Taylors of Harrogate Valentine’s Day Chai Chocolate Cake

This decadent chocolate cake is infused with Taylors of Harrogate Chai Tea, adding a warm and aromatic twist. Perfect for a romantic Valentine’s dessert!
Ingredients:
For the Cake:
1/2 cup (120ml) milk
2 Taylors of Harrogate Chai Tea Bags
1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
1/3 cup (40g) cocoa powder
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Frosting:
1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
2 cups (250g) powdered sugar
2 tbsp brewed Taylors of Harrogate Chai Tea (cooled)
1/4 cup (25g) cocoa powder
Optional: chocolate shavings or heart-shaped sprinkles for garnish
Instructions:
1.) Infuse the Milk:
Heat the milk until warm (but not boiling). Add the Taylors of Harrogate Chai Tea Bags and steep for 10 minutes. Gently squeeze the tea bags before discarding, and let the infused milk cool.
2.) Prepare the Batter:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch round cake pan. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3.) Cream the Butter and Sugar:
In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes). Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
4.) Combine Ingredients:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the chai-infused milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth and well combined.
5.) Bake the Cake:
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
6.) Prepare the Frosting:
Beat the butter until creamy. Add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing on low speed until combined. Gradually add the brewed chai tea, one tablespoon at a time, until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.
7.) Frost and Decorate:
Frost the cooled cake with the chai chocolate frosting. Garnish with chocolate shavings or heart-shaped sprinkles for a festive Valentine’s touch.
