Serves: 6–8
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 40–45 minutes
Ingredients
For the Galette
- 1 refrigerated pie crust or homemade pastry dough
- 3–4 thin-skinned oranges (Cara Cara, Navel, or Blood Oranges work beautifully), sliced into very thin rounds
- ⅓ cup Tiptree Orange Marmalade
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon fresh orange zest
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Coarse sugar, for sprinkling (optional)
Optional Garnish
- Fresh mint leaves
- Powdered sugar
- Vanilla bean ice cream or whipped cream
Instructions
1. Prepare the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Make the Filling
In a small bowl, stir together the Tiptree Orange Marmalade, sugar, cornstarch, vanilla, and orange zest until smooth.
3. Assemble the Galette
Roll the pie dough into a 12-inch circle and place it on the prepared baking sheet.
Spread the marmalade mixture evenly over the center of the dough, leaving about a 2-inch border around the edges.
Arrange the orange slices in overlapping circles over the marmalade, creating a beautiful layered pattern.
Fold the edges of the pastry over the fruit, pleating as you go.
4. Finish
Brush the crust with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar for extra crunch and sparkle.
5. Bake
Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the crust is deep golden brown and the oranges are lightly caramelized.
Allow the galette to cool for about 15 minutes before serving.
