Tiptree Mummy Hand Pies Made with Tiptree Preserves 🎃
Makes: 8 hand pies
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Bake Time: 18–22 minutes
Flaky puff pastry filled with fruity Tiptree Preserves and wrapped in golden pastry strips to create an adorable mummy-inspired Halloween treat.
Ingredients
-
2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
-
¾ cup Tiptree preserves
-
1 tablespoon cornstarch
-
1 egg, beaten
-
1 tablespoon water
-
Coarse sugar, for sprinkling
-
Candy eyes
Instructions
1. Prepare the Pastry
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cut one sheet of puff pastry into 8 equal rectangles. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
2. Add the Tiptree Filling
Mix the Tiptree Preserve with the cornstarch. Spoon about 1½ tablespoons onto the center of each rectangle, leaving a border around the edges.
3. Make the Mummy Strips
Cut the second sheet of puff pastry into thin strips. Arrange the strips diagonally across each hand pie, overlapping them slightly to resemble mummy bandages. Leave a small opening near the top for the eyes.
Trim the excess pastry and gently press the strips around the edges to seal.
4. Bake
Whisk together the egg and water and lightly brush over the pastry. Sprinkle with coarse sugar.
Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
5. Add the Eyes
Let the hand pies cool for a few minutes before placing two candy eyes in the opening of each mummy.
Why You'll Love Them
These spooky little hand pies make Halloween baking easy and fun. Buttery puff pastry surrounds a sweet, vibrant Tiptree Preserve filling that peeks through the mummy "bandages" for a festive pop of color.
Serve them warm for a Halloween party, fall gathering, or frightfully sweet afternoon treat! 👻
