English Vodka Wildflower

English Vodka Wildflower

Cockatils made with wildflower elements are unique takes on standard highball receipes. Wildflower cocktail recipes run the gamut of wildflower flavors (elderflower liquer, wildflower soda) and alcoholic bases (vodka, bourbon, champagne and so on). Either way you go, the idea is to incorporate and bright floral essence into your drink, reminding the drinker of light airy evenings in the summer months.

This recipe takes a pretty standard wildflower cocktail (elderflower & vodka) and adds a little bit of depth and color by including Taylors English Breakfast tea in the mixture. The end result is a bolder taste, and a stronger mouth feel.

Because it takes some advance preparation, we recommend you do the infusion about 2 hours before you plan to serve drinks.

Brew Your Taylors English Breakfast Tea

Ingredients and supplies you'll need:

Bring water to a boil. Once the water is boiling, turn off the heat allowing the water to come down to a steep. Add the Taylors of Harrogate English Breakfast Tea bags. Steep tea for 3 to 5 minutes. If you want something a little bit stronger in flavor, you can steep it longer. Once the tea is ready, remove the tea bags, place the tea in a large pitcher and let it rest in the refrigerator until cold.

How to Make the English Vodka Wildflower

With the tea properly chilled, you'll go about making this take on a wildflower by simply following the recipe below:

Ingredients you'll need:

  • 1 piece of ginger
  • Lemon juice
  • Elderflower tonic or liquer
  • Vodka
  • Taylors English Breakfast Tea
  • Ice
  • Garnish (mint or citrus)

Once you've got your ingredients ready, muddle the ginger in the glass with a splash of the elderflower tonic or liquer to get the aromatics going. Once it's properly muddled, add in ice about 3/4 the way to the top. From there, you'll add in 1/3 part lemon juice, 2/3 part elderflower tonic or liquer, 1 part vodka, and 1 part chilled Taylors English Breakfast Tea. Stir vigorously.

Once completely mixed, you can add in your garnish. This particular version often calls for a touch of mint and some citrus.

Enjoy responsibly!
