Tiptree Morello Cherry Heart Hand Pies

Flaky, buttery, and bursting with tart cherry goodness, these heart-shaped hand pies are filled with Tiptree Morello Cherry Preserve and finished with a sweet dusting of powdered sugar. The little heart cutout on top lets that deep ruby filling peek through—perfect for Valentine’s Day, afternoon tea, or gifting with love.


🥧 Ingredients

  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts)

  • ¾ cup Tiptree Morello Cherry Preserve

  • 1 tsp cornstarch

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

  • Optional: ½ tsp almond extract (pairs beautifully with cherry)


👩🍳 Simple Instructions

  1. Preheat & prep: Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Cut the hearts: Roll out pie crusts. Cut an even number of large hearts (bottom pieces). Cut the same number of hearts for tops, then cut a small heart out of the center of each top piece.

  3. Prepare filling: Stir cornstarch into the Tiptree Morello Cherry Preserve (and almond extract, if using).

  4. Fill: Place bottom hearts on the baking sheet. Spoon 1–1½ tablespoons of cherry filling into the center, leaving a border.

  5. Seal: Brush edges lightly with egg wash. Place heart-cutout tops over filling and gently press edges to seal. Crimp with a fork if desired.

  6. Bake: Brush tops with egg wash. Bake for 18–22 minutes, until golden and lightly puffed.

  7. Finish: Cool slightly, then dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
